A Cozy Pile of Blankets – Inky Paws 160

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

We have a brand new Inky Paws Challenge starting today and it is all about PLAID! I seriously love plaid, so I was very excited to get working on this challenge!

For my card today, I was inspired by the sweet image from the Newton’s Naptime Stamp Set and all of the patterned blankets the kitty is sleeping on. I started by stamping three of the image and then colored them with my Copic markers in these colors (going in rainbow order from red to purple):

Reds: R29, R08, R05, R14, R02, R00

Oranges: YR09, YR07, YR04, YR12, YR00

Yellows: Y19, Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11, Y00

Greens: G29, G07, G24, G43, YG45, YG05, YG61, YG11

Teals: BG49, BG45, BG34, BG13, BG32, BG11, BG10

Blues: B28, B26, B24, B21, B18, B16, B02, B12

Indigos: B66, B63, B60, BV08, BV04, BV31, BV01

Violets: V09, V17, V15, V04, V12, V91

Black Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

After coloring, I cut all of the images out using the coordinating die. Since I knew I was going to have a tall stack of blankets, I decided to make a mini slimline card. To do this, I used a die set I have that cuts a rectangle to about 3.5in x 6.5in, and cut a piece of white card stock with the die. On that rectangle, I used a blending tool to ink through the first layer of the Plaid Stencil using Versamark embossing ink. After inking, I sprinkled a clear glitter embossing powder over it and heat set it.
When the embossing was cool, I layered the images into a big blanket stack and adhered that to the plaid background. Lastly, I cut the thought bubble from the Newton’s Naptime Die Set, stamped the sentiment “I love you more than naps” inside with a black ink, and glued that to my card.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store! And be sure to check out the new holiday release, too!
