Hello and welcome back!
We have a new Inky Paws Challenge starting today, and it is the purr-fect opportunity to get a head start on Valentine’s Day cards! Link a photo of you love-themed project to the Inky Paws Blog by February 3rd for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store.

For my card today, I pulled out one of the first Newton sets I ever bought -it’s also one of my favorites!
I started by stamping and coloring the image from the Newton’s Naptime Stamp Set using Copic markers. I stamped the blanket portion of the image twice, so I could make an extra large blanket stack for my cat to sleep on. I used a few combinations of reds and pinks for the blankets, and a combination of black/greys to color the cat. Here are the colors I used:
Black: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3
Red: R59. R39, R37, R35
Magenta: RV29, RV25, RV23, RV21
Hot Pink: RV14, RV23, RV11, RV00
Light Pink: R32, R30, R00
After coloring, I cut out my image using the coordinating dies. I also cut out a thought bubble using the die included in the set. On the thought bubble, I stamped the sentiment, “I love you more than naps” in black ink.
For my background, I started with a piece of white cardstock and cut a heart out of the upper center using the mid-sized heart in the Heart Frames Die Set. I cut another piece of cardstock and ink blended using Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry, and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxides. I glued the inked panel behind the white, heart cut-out panel to fill the heart with color.
To finish my card, I glued the stamped images together, and then glued them to the background so the heart was behind the cat. I adhered the thought bubble inside the heart, and added the circles coming out of the cat’s head, so it looked like he was thinking.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store! And if you are looking for more Valentine’s Day fun, check out the adorable new release!
