Books and Cats – IPC 175 Reminder

Hello and welcome back!

Have you joined the Inky Paws Challenge yet? There are still a few more days to create a one layer card for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook online store!

For my card today, I wanted to create a simple scene using the Newton’s Book Club Stamp Set and the All Booked Up Stamp Set. These are some of my favorite sets (I mean, what’s better than books and cats?) and they work perfectly together!

I started by stamping the reading cat from the Newton’s Book Club Stamp Set in the lower middle section of a 4.25 x 5.5in white card stock panel. Next, I masked that image and stamped the two cats sitting on books from the Book Club Set and the All Booked Up Stamp Set. I created additional masks for both of those images, masked them, and masked a half inch border around the outside of the panel. Then, I ink blending some Salvaged Patina Distress Ink over the open area.

After the inking, I removed all the masks and colored my scene using Copic markers in the following colors:

White cat: W3, W1, W00, E04, E93

Black cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3, E04, E93

Brown cat: E29, E27, E25, E23, E21, E04, E93

Purples: V09, V06, V04, V01

Pinks: RV66, RV55, RV23, RV11

Greens: YG45, YG23, YG11, YG01

Teals: BG45, BG32, BG11, BG10

To finish off my card, I stamped the sentiment “Our story is my favorite” in black ink.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge! Don’t be intimidated by the one layer theme – there are so many ways to approach a one layer card!

Thanks for stopping by!

All Booked Up – Inky Paws Reminder!

Hello and welcome back!

There is still time to join the Inky Paws challenge over on the Newton’s Nook blog! This challenge is a theme challenge, and it’s all about tags! It’s the perfect challenge for the holiday season – especially if you are like me and still haven’t finished your holiday cards!

For this set of tags, I decided to take a break from the holidays and make some bookmarks that can also function as tags for presents! I started by stamping the images from the new All Booked Up Stamp Set and colored it with my Copic markers in the following colors:

Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3,W2

Red Books: R59, R39, R37, R35, R32, R30

Pink Books: RV21, RV32, RV55, RV66, RV25, RV23, RV21

Orange Books: YR09, YR07, YR04, YR14, YR12, YR21

Yellow Books: Y38, Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11, Y00

Dog: E41, E42, E44, E55, E57, E59

Green Books: G29, G07, G24, G43, G02, G00

Turquoise Books: BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11, BG10

Blue Books: B18, B16, B14, B02, B00

Indigo Books: BV24, BV11, BV01, BV00, BV00

Violet Books: V09, V07, V17, V15, V04, V01

Next, I die cut my images with the coordinating dies and cut two bookmarks and two flags out of white card stock using the Bookmark Die Set. I decided I wanted to add a little bit of color to the background of the bookmarks, so I die cut the Bookmark Die out of a piece of rainbow polka dot paper I had from Lawn Fawn.

To continue with the color themes I had going, I inked up both of the flags in either yellow or purple ink – I used Gina K Wild Dandelion and Catherine Pooler Serene. On each banner, I heat embossed sentiments from the All Booked Up Stamp Set using black embossing powder.

To assemble the tags, I glued the flags to the back of the book stacks so the flags were peeking out from the bottom of the books. Then, I adhered those to the bookmarks. To finish them off, I tied some white ribbon with an iridescent shimmer to the tops of the bookmarks.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 gift voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!
