Harvest of Joy – IPC 181

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Have you joined the Inky Paws Challenge yet? There is still time to link up your fall-themed projects for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook online store!

For my card today, I used the new Harvest Haul stamp set. I think this stamp is so cute – I love all the fun fall items in the back of the truck!

To color my image, I used Copic markers in the following colors:

Truck: BG99, BG96, BG93, BG90, C6, C4, C2, C00

Pumpkins: E99, YR27, YR04, YR21

Straw: E15, E13, E11, E50

Apples: R19, R08, R05, Y28, Y26, Y21

Basket: E57, E55, E53, E51

Blanket: W8, W6, W4, W3, W1

After coloring, I die cut my image using the coordinating dies

For my background, I wanted to create a nighttime scene, so I started but cutting out a square using the Frames Squared Die Set as well as a hill using the Oval Frames Die Set. To color the hill, I ink blended Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Oxides. To color the sky, I blended Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxides. To add some stars in my sky, I mixed Confetti White Perfect Pearls with water and splashed them on the inked panel.

After I glued my card together, I heat embossed the sentiment “may the colors of fall bring you a harvest of joy” with white embossing powder. To finish it off, I added a few leaves in the sky to really make it feel like fall.

Saddle Up! (ft. a somewhat convincing sales pitch) – Inky Paws Challenge 153

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

We have an awesome new sketch challenge starting today on the Newton’s Nook blog! If you are inspired by the sketch or just looking to stretch your creativity, join us in the challenge by linking a photo of your project to the Inky Paws Challenge page!

Before I get into my card today, I have a question for you: Why haven’t you bought the Newton Rides West Stamp Set, yet? I know what you are thinking, but I’m not trying to sell you on this stamp because I’m affiliated with Newton’s Nook. Really, I’m not! This stamp set is not only freaking adorable, but it’s on sale! This set is retiring, so this is your last chance to get it. Still not sold? Do you have any little ones you make cards for or with? They will LOVE these images! Do you have any guys in your life? Guy cards are always the hardest to create, but with this set it will be easy! Do you love cats? Purrfect set! Do you like cowboys? Okay, that’s a little personal, but we all know the answer is yes, so BUY THIS SET!

Okay, now that it’s clear that I should stick to my writing job and not become a salesman, let’s move on to the card.

To start, I colored the cowboy cat image from (you guessed it) the Newton Rides West Stamp Set. To color my image, I used Copic markers in the following colors:

Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3, and W2

Hat: E17, E15, E13, and E11

Green Stripe: YG05, YG03, and YG01

Bandana: RV29, RV25, RV23, and RV21

After coloring, I cut out my image using the coordinating dies. Next, I cut out two of the smallest squares from the Frames Squared Die Set. With one square, I cut a hill using the Land Borders Die Set. On the hill, I ink blended Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide. I then splattered a little more Walnut Stain Ink and some white acrylic paint on the hill to make it look a little more like desert sand. On the other square panel, I ink blended Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide to create a sunset.

For my card background, I cut a piece of white cardstock down to 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I put a few of the mini images from the Newton Rides West Set on an acrylic block and inked them with a light grey ink. I stamped the images all around the paper to create a fun patterned background. Next, I cut a strip of lime green cardstock down to about 1.25 x 3.5 inches. I cut the bottom of the strip to create a banner similar to the one shown in the sketch, and adhered the inked square scene toward the top of the strip. On the green piece, below the square, I stamped the sentiment “saddle up and celebrate” in a black ink. I then glued the green piece and square onto the background, then popped up the kitty using foam tape onto the square.
