Floating By – Inky Paws 175

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the beginning of a new Inky Paws Challenge, and I am SO excited about this one! This challenge is all about creating a one layer card. Don’t be intimidated! There are lot’s of ways to do a one layer card.

For my card, I wanted to create a scene with the Delightful Doxies Stamp Set. This is an older stamp set, but I absolutely love it! I started by cutting a piece of white card stock to 3.5in x 6.5in. On that panel, I stamped the doxie with the string on his tail towards the bottom of the panel. I wanted a bunch of balloons to be attached to his tail, so instead of using the balloon stamp in the set, I stamped the cluster of balloons from the Holding Happiness Stamp Set by masking off the girl and only stamping the balloons. I stamped the first cluster of balloons in the upper center of my card, masked those off, and stamped two more clusters to make a large arrangement of balloons. Leaving the masking on, I stenciled in some clouds using the Clouds Stencil.

To color my card, I used a rainbow of Copic markers in these colors:

Doxie: E18, E17, E15, E13, E11

Pink Balloons: RV29, RV25, RV13, RV21

Orange Balloons: YR07, YR04, YR12, YR21

Yellow Balloons: Y38, Y35, Y13, Y02

Green Balloons: YG17, YG45, YG23, YG11

Teal Balloons: BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11

Blue Balloons: B28, B26, B24, B21

Indigo Balloons: BV08, BV34, BV23, BV01

Purple Balloons: V17, V15, V12, V01

To finish my card, I stamped the sentiment “You Lift Me Up” from the Delightful Doxies Stamp Set in black ink by the doxie.

Oh Sheep! Only a Few More Days to Join the Inky Paws Challenge!

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today I am sharing my second card for the current Inky Paws Color Challenge! In case you missed it, the current challenge goes until Friday (April 23rd) and all you have to do is create a project featuring Newton’s Nook products and using the colors orange, yellow, green, and white!

To start my card I stamped quite a few images from the Baa Stamp Set and the Holding Happiness Stamp Set. On a piece of white cardstock, I stamped the waving sheep, the sitting sheep, and the balloons and present, as well as the cupcake and party hats from the Bleat Stamp Set, using a Copic safe black ink. For my coloring, I used the following markers:

Sheep: C8, C5, C3, C2, and C1

Yellow: Y35, Y18, Y15, Y08, and Y11

Green: G07, YG45, YG23, and YG01

Orange: YR07, YR04, YR12, and YR21

After I finished coloring, I cut my images out with their coordinating dies. I glued the balloons behind my waving sheep, and the present under my sitting sheep to start to figure out my scene. I decided to create a slimline card and make a playful background using the Slimline Masking Squares Stencil and the Sunscape Stencil. With my squares stencil, I inked all three squares with Squeeze Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxides, staring with Mustard Seed at the bottom of each square fading into Squeezed Lemonade at the top. Keeping my slimline stencil on my paper, I layer the sun ray portion of the Sunscape Stencil on top of the bottom square. Over the open rays, I blended Dried Marigold and Spiced Marmalade Oxides, starting the Spiced Marmalade at the top of the square fading into Dried Marigold at the bottom. I moved the stencil to the top square and did the same.

To assemble my card, I stamped the sentiments “Oh, Sheep!” and “I just herd it’s your baa-thday!” on the middle square in black ink. Using foam tape, I popped up my sheep sitting on the present and the sheep being lifted by balloons onto the top and bottom squares. I also added the little party hats to my floating sheep as well as a hat and a cupcake leaning against my giant birthday gift!

I think this is such a fun birthday card that would be perfect to give to someone – even if you are a day or two late!

I hope you join us in the last few days of the Inky Paws Color Challenge! Remember to link up your projects for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

(P.S. You will DEFINITELY want that $20 to spend on the new release happening this week!)
