Frankly, You’re the Best – IPC 182 Reminder

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

There is still time to join the current Inky Paws Color Challenge! Create a project using the challenge colors for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

For my card today, I used the new Franken-Newton Stamp set to create an electrifying Halloween scene.

I started by stamping and coloring the walking Newton from the set and coloring it with my Copic markers. Here are the colors I used:

Green: YG09, YG06, YG03, YG01

Black: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

After coloring, I cut out the image using the coordinating die set.

To create my background, I cut a large circle using the Circle Frames Die Set out of a piece of masking paper. I put the negative (the piece with the circle opening) of the masking paper onto a 4.25×55 inch piece of watercolor paper. Then, I ink blended using Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Dried Marigold Distress Oxides. I removed the negative mask and placed the circle mask over the moon. To create the night sky, I ink blended using Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, and Black Soot Distress Oxides. When I was happy with the blending, I removed the mask and sprayed the background with water to give it a watercolor look.

While that was drying, I cut a strip of grass out of black paper using the Land Borders Die Set. Then, I heat embossed the sentiments “frankly, you’re the best!” and “happy Halloween” onto the background using black embossing powder.

To finish my card, I adhered the grass to the bottom of the panel and popped the Franken-Newton up on foam tape before placing him in the scene.

Happy Haunting – Inky Paws 182

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the beginning of a new Inky Paws Color Challenge! This color palette is perfect for the start of fall and definitely got me excited for the new season!

For my card today, I created a spooky woodland scene using a few dies from Newton’s Nook.

To start, I stamped and colored the image from the new Halloween Pile Stamp Set using my Copic markers. Here are the colors I used:

Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Dog: E13, E11, E51, E50

Witch Hat: C8, C6, C5, C3

Pumpkin Pail: YR27, YR24, YR21

Ghost Costume: W3 and W1

After coloring the image, I cut it out using the coordinating dies.

To create my scene background, I started by cutting a small circle from the Circle Frames Die Set out of a piece of masking paper. Using the negative piece (the piece with the circle opening), I ink blended using Scattered Straw and Dried Marigold Distress Oxides. I removed the negative mask and placed the circle mask over the moon. To create the sky, I ink blended with Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness, and Black Soot Distress Oxides, starting with the lightest color around the moon and blending out.

Next, I cut a hill using the Land Borders Die Set, as well as a few birch trees from the Forest Scene Builder Die Set out of white card stock. For the hill, I ink blended using Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, and Ground Espresso Distress Oxides. For the trees, I blended Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Oxides, keeping the areas closer to the moon lighter to give the illusion of light.

To finish my card, I adhered everything together and popped the stamped image up on foam before placing it in the center. For my sentiment, I heat embossed “Happy Haunting” from the Spiderweb Oval Die Set onto the hill.

As a finishing touch, I stamped and die cut a few bats from the Halloween Pile Stamp Set and adhered them around the scene.

Sun and Surf – Inky Paws

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

A brand new Inky Paws Challenge starts today and it is all about the beach! To join in the fun, create a beach-themed project using Newton’s Nook products and link up a photo to the Inky Paws Blog for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

For my card today, I knew I wanted to use the new Beach Bound Stamp Set. I was inspired by an old photo my dad used to have in his home of a vintage VW van driving along the California coast. The picture always made me think of beach vacations and summertime, so I thought it was the perfect inspiration for this challenge!

To start my card, I stamped three of the cars from the Beach Bound Stamp Set onto a piece of Hammermill card stock using a Copic-safe ink. To color my cars, I used Copic markers in the following colors:

Yellow Combo: Y38, Y35, Y13, Y11

Orange Combo: YR07, YR04, YR12, YR21

Pink Combo: RV25, RV13, RV11, RV01

Green Combo: YG45, YG23, YG11, YG00

Teal Combo: BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11

Tires: 100, W8, W5, W2

Next, I moved on to create the background of my scene. To start, I cut a piece of white card stock to 4.25in x 5.5in. Starting at the top of the panel, I ink blended Gina K Wild Dandelion Ink, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

While that was drying, I cut a strip of white card stock using the stitched wave die from the Sea Borders Die Set and inked it up using Salvaged Patina and Prize Ribbon Distress Ink. To give my waves a bit of shimmer, I splattered a mix of water and Confetti White Perfect Pearls across the panel.

To create my sandy beach, I cut two pieces of kraft card stock using the Land Borders Die Set. To add more texture, I splattered watered down Distress Inks in the colors Frayed Burlap, Walnut Stain, and Ground Espresso. Then, I splattered a little bit of watered down white acrylic paint to finish off the sand.

Before I put my landscape together, I took the inked sunset panel and stenciled the Palm Tree Line Stencil over the inked portion using the same ink colors. By using the same colors over the stencil, I made a subtle tone-on-tone look for the background. I wanted to add a tiny bit more shimmer, so I used the final section of the Palm Tree Line Stencil (the part that creates the lines on the trunk and leaves) and heat embossed it with a clear shimmer embossing powder.

To finish my card, I adhered the sand panels onto the background using a liquid glue. Then, I stamped the sentiment “happy surf-day” onto the wave panel before popping the panel up on foam tape and adhering it to my card. To finish it off, I popped up the cars on foam and glued them to the sandy hills of the card front.

Hello and welcome back!

Today starts a brand new Inky Paws Sketch Challenge! If you are inspired by the sketch, create a project using Newton’s Nook products and link your project up to the Inky Paws Challenge Blog for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store. Yep, it’s that easy! Here is the sketch for inspiration:

For my card today, I decided to create a fun beach scene using the sketch. To start, I stamped the image from the Beach Barks Stamp Set onto a piece of Copic-safe paper. Then, I colored the image with the following Copics:

Labrador: E44, E42, E41, E30

Puppy: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Hat: E17, E15, E13, E11, BG49, BG45, BG32

Lei: YR07, YR04, Y15, Y13

Floatie: R59, R29, R08, R05

Sunglasses: RV04, RV02, RV00

To create the beach scene, I cut two strips of white paper using the Sea Borders Die Set, as well as one strip of Kraft paper using the Land Borders Die Set. For the water, I ink blended using Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxides, then, I splatted some water to create depth. For the land, I splattered some white acrylic paint to add some texture and give it the look of sand.

I wanted to create a beachy sunset for the background, so I used Gina K Wild Dandelion ink, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, Gina K Innocent Pink Ink, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. Then, I splattered some Brea Reese Glitter Ink in Orange across the background.

To finish it off, I glued my scene together, popped the dogs up using foam tape, and stamped the sentiment “Sandy Paws and Salty Kisses” from the Beach Barks Stamp Set.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge by the end of the day on June 3rd for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

For my card, I used the following products:

Newton’s Blooms Stamps and Dies

Spring Pile Up Stamp Set

Circle Frames Die Set

Land Borders Die Set

To start my card, I colored the Newton’s Blooms Stamp using my Copic markers, then cut it out with the coordinating die set. A Snowy Christmas Scene – Inky Paws 161

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Are you ready for the holidays? I’m definitely not, but this new Inky Paws Challenge had me feeling a little more festive!

When I saw the colors for this challenge, I knew immediately I wanted to use the new Holiday Home Stamp Set from the most recent Newton’s Nook release! To start, I stamped and colored a couple of the images from the Holiday Home Stamp Set using my Copic Markers in these colors:

Dark Reds: R29, R19, R08, R05

Light Reds: R08, R05, R02, R00

Dark Green: G29, G17, G15

Light Green: YG17, YG23, G12, YG11

Brown: E15, E13, E11, E50

Grey: W8, W6, W5, W3, W2

Next, I cut out my images using the coordinating dies, as well as cutting a few hills out of white card stock using the Land Borders Die Set. To add some depth to the hills, I ink blended a little bit of Salvaged Patina Distress Ink at the tops of the hills. I also ink blended Salvaged Patina onto a 4 x 5.25 inch white panel to create my sky. To create some snow in the sky, I splattered some Perfect Pearls mixed with water.

To assemble my card, I stamped the sentiment “wishing you peace and joy this holiday season” in black ink on the bottom hill. Then, I popped up my images with foam tape and adhered it to my scene. Lastly, I added a little glitter to the snow of the stamped images.

If you are inspired by the Inky Paws Challenge, you can enter through November 19 for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

Hello and welcome back!

Today marks the start of a brand new Inky Paws Challenge! I don’t know about you, but I am ready for fall, and this challenge made me even more excited for fall to begin!

I started my card by stamping a few of the images from the new Count Newton Stamp Set onto a piece of Hammermill 110# paper. Then, I colored my images using my Copics in these colors:

Newton: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Gravestones: C6, C4, BV34, BV23, BV11

Cape: V09, V17, V15, V01

After coloring, I cut out my images using the coordinating dies.

To build my spooky graveyard scene, I made a purple night sky by blending Distress Oxides in the colors Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, and Dusty Concord onto a piece of white card stock cut to 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Next, I cut two hills using the Land Borders Die Set and ink blended those with Rustic Wilderness and Black Soot Distress Oxides.

I wanted to add a little more to my scene, both to fill the space and to add a little more spook, so I cut a few birch trees from the Forest Scene Builder Die Set out of white card stock. Instead of inking the trees up in a “traditional” manner, I splattered some watered down Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide, as well as some silver glitter ink.

To put my card together, I glued the trees, the hill farther back in the scene, and the gravestones on that hill directly onto the background. The front hill, Count Newton, and gravestones were all popped up with foam tape to create a little more depth. To finish it off, I heat embossed the sentiment “You can count on me!” right next to the vampire kitty.
