Birthday Wishes – Inky Paws 183

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the start of a brand new Inky Paws Challenge! This time, we have a fun sketch to inspire you! Create a project using the sketch below as inspiration and link it up to the Inky Paws Blog for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

Here are the products I used for my card today:

Newton’s Nook Newton’s Birthday Trio Stamps and Coordinating Dies

Newton’s Nook Banner Trio Die Set

Newton’s Nook Frames and Flags Die Set

Newton’s Nook Heartfelt Blooms Stamp Set

Salvaged Patina Distress Ink

Gina K Turquoise Sea Ink

Copic Markers

Masking Paper

To start my card, I colored the image from the Newton’s Birthday Trio Stamp Set using Copic markers in the following colors:

Siamese Cat: E17, E15, E13, E11, E50

Birman Cat: W8, W6, W5, W3, W1

Ragdoll Cat: E49, E44, E43, E42, E40

Pink Combo: RV29. RV25, RV23, RV11

Teal Combo: BG49, BG45, BG13, BG11, BG0000

After coloring, I cut my images using the coordinating dies.

To create my background, I cut three of the stitched banners from the Banner Trio Die Set out of a piece of masking paper. Using the negative piece (the piece with the open banners) on a 4.25×5.5in piece of white card stock, I ink blended using Salvaged Patina Distress Ink and Gina K Turquoise Sea Ink. I removed my mask, then, using the stitched rectangle from the Frames and Flags Die Set, I cut the panel down.

To finish my card, I popped the birthday cats up on some foam tape and adhered them to the inked panel. Then, I stamped the sentiment “Birthday Wishes” in black ink at the bottom of the panel.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

Hello and welcome back!

Have you joined the Inky Paws Sketch Challenge yet? There is still time to join for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store! (You’ll definitely want to win the voucher when you see all the new fall and Halloween products!)

For my card today, I was inspired by the balloon image from the Sky High Celebrations Stamp Set to create a sky-bound birthday card.

To start, I stamped the image with a black, Copic safe ink onto a piece of white card stock. To color my image, I used Copic markers in the following colors:

Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Dog: E17, E15, E13, E11, E51, E50

Red Balloon: R29, R08, R05, R14

Orange Balloon: YR07, YR04, YR12, YR21

Yellow Balloon: Y38, Y35, Y13, Y01

Green Balloon: YG45, YG23, YG11, YG01

Teal Balloon: BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11

Blue Balloon: B28, B26, B24, B21

Magenta Balloon: RV25, RV23, RV21, RV00

Purple Balloon: V09, V06, V04, V01

After coloring, I cut the image out using the coordinating dies.

To create my background, I cut two pieces of white card stock to 4.25in x 5.5in. On one panel, I cut out an oval using the Oval Frames Die Set. On both of the panels, I created some clouds using the Clouds Stencil and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink.

On the cloud panel that I didn’t die cut, I stamped the sentiment “soaring by with sky high thanks!” using a black ink. On the die cut cloud panel, I stamped and heat embossed a few stars with a clear embossing powder to add a bit of sparkle. Then, I popped up the die cut panel using foam tape and attached it to the front of the other cloud panel. To finish my card, I popped up the stamped image on foam tape and adhered it to the front of my card.

Rainy Day – Inky Paws Challenge 180

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the beginning of a new Inky Paws Challenge on the Newton’s Nook blog! This time, we have a simple sketch to get your creative juices flowing!

For my card, I used the following products:

Newton’s Rainy Day Trio Stamps and Coordinating Dies

Frames and Flags Die Set

Speech Bubbles Die Set

To start my card, I stamped and colored the trio of cats using my Copic markers in the following colors:

Black Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Siamese Cat: E18, E15, E13, E11, E51, E50

Brown Cat: E57, E55, E53, E51

Raincoats: B39, B37, B34, B31 and B18, B16, B14, B12

After coloring, I cut out my image using the coordinating dies.

To create my background, I cut a white card stock panel to 4.25×5.5 inches. Then, I ink blended starting from the top and the bottom, using Distress Oxides in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Chipped Sapphire, and Black Soot.

To create the shaker, I cut a rectangle from my inked panel using the Frames and Flags Die Set. I adhered the cut panel onto another piece of card stock, put foam tape and acetate on the rest of the die cut panel, placed my sequins and glued everything together.

For my sentiment, I cut a speech bubble from the Speech Bubbles Die Set and stamped “meowing in the rain” using a black ink. Then, I glued the bubble to the back of the cats and adhered both to the front of my card.

Beach Day Scene – IPC 177 Reminder

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today, I am sharing my second card for the current Inky Paws Sketch challenge! You have until the end of the day Friday to link up a project using the sketch as inspiration for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

My card today is a little more interpretive, just to show that you don’t have to follow a sketch exactly.

To start my card, I stamped the image of the girl relaxing in a beach chair from the Summer Moments Stamp Set in the lower left corner of a 4.25in x 5.5in card front. Next, I used the Sunscape Stencil and Distress Oxides in Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade, and ink blended some rays around the stamped image to mimic the sketch.

After my stenciling, I colored my image using Copic markers in the following colors:

Beach Chair: R59, R29, R08, R05, YR09, YR07, YR04, YR12, Y38, Y35, Y13, Y11, YG45, YG23, YG11, YG01, BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11, V09, V06, V04, V01, C3, and C1

Sun Hat: E49, E44, E42, E41

Pants: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Skin tone: E15, E13, E11, E51

To finish my card, I stamped the sentiment “Girls just want to have sun!” from the Summer Moments Stamps Set in the upper right side of my card front.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge!

Sandy Paws and Salty Kisses – IPC 174

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today starts a brand new Inky Paws Sketch Challenge! If you are inspired by the sketch, create a project using Newton’s Nook products and link your project up to the Inky Paws Challenge Blog for a chance to win $20 to the Newton’s Nook Online Store. Yep, it’s that easy! Here is the sketch for inspiration:

For my card today, I decided to create a fun beach scene using the sketch. To start, I stamped the image from the Beach Barks Stamp Set onto a piece of Copic-safe paper. Then, I colored the image with the following Copics:

Labrador: E44, E42, E41, E30

Puppy: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Hat: E17, E15, E13, E11, BG49, BG45, BG32

Lei: YR07, YR04, Y15, Y13

Floatie: R59, R29, R08, R05

Sunglasses: RV04, RV02, RV00

To create the beach scene, I cut two strips of white paper using the Sea Borders Die Set, as well as one strip of Kraft paper using the Land Borders Die Set. For the water, I ink blended using Salty Ocean and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxides, then, I splatted some water to create depth. For the land, I splattered some white acrylic paint to add some texture and give it the look of sand.

I wanted to create a beachy sunset for the background, so I used Gina K Wild Dandelion ink, Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, Gina K Innocent Pink Ink, and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. Then, I splattered some Brea Reese Glitter Ink in Orange across the background.

To finish it off, I glued my scene together, popped the dogs up using foam tape, and stamped the sentiment “Sandy Paws and Salty Kisses” from the Beach Barks Stamp Set.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge by the end of the day on June 3rd for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

Out of this World – Inky Paws 168

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the beginning of a new Inky Paws Challenge! This time, it is a inspiring sketch challenge that I had a lot of fun with!

For this card, I used the rocket ship image from the retiring Cosmic Newton Stamp Set and colored it using my Copic markers in the following colors:

Newton: W8, W6, W5, W3, W2

Rocket: C8, C6, C3, C1

Red: R29, R08, R15

Orange: YR16, YR14, YR12

Yellow: Y19, Y15, Y13

Green: G19, G05, G02

Blue: B18, B16, B12

Purple: V09, V06, V04

To create my background, I cut a piece of white card stock to 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I started by inky blending striped of Picked Raspberry, Salvaged Patina, and Mustard Seed Distress Oxides. Then, I blended around the stripes with Black Soot Distress Oxide. I blended the colors back and forth until I was happy with the blending. To create some stars, I splatted watered down white acrylic paint across the background.

To emulate the sketch, I cut two white cloud strips using the Sky Borders Die Set. Then, I cut a white card stock circle, and blended some Pumice Stone Distress Ink around the edge. To create some craters, I used the Bubbly Stencil and more Pumice Stone Ink.

After assembling my card, I heat embossed the sentiment “You’re out of this world” in black embossing powder as well as some stars in a gold embossing powder. I also add Glossy Accents over the rocket ship window to give it some dimension.

Be sure to check out the Inky Paws Challenge and all the retiring stamp sets on the Newton’s Nook website!
