Sanding you a Sunny Smile – IPC 178 Reminder

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

There is still time to join the current Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store! Enter your beach-themed projects by the end of the day Friday, July 29th for a chance to win or be picked as a favorite by one of the challenge team members!

For my second card for this challenge, I wanted to do something a little more whimsical, so I started by stamping and coloring a couple of the cats from the Kitten Beach Stamp Set. To color my images, I used Copic markers in the following colors:

Black Cat: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Grey Cat: W4, W2, W1, W00

Sand Castle: E15, E13, E11, E51, E50

Beach Chair: RV29, RV25, RV13, RV21, C3, C1

After coloring, I cut my images using the coordinating die set.

To create my background, I cut a piece of white card stock to 3.5in x 8.5in to make a slimline card front. Next, I used the square masking stencil from the Slimline Masking Squares and Circles Stencil Set and the Waves and Splashes Stencil to create my scene. For the waves, I ink blended Distress Oxides in Prize Ribbon, Peacock Feathers, and Salvaged Patina. After that was dry, I inked over the waves in Versamark ink and heat embossed the waves using a clear glitter embossing powder. I felt like adding the embossing made the waves look so pretty!

When the embossing was dry, I used the masking square stencil to ink up the rest of the openings and create a sunset. For my sunset, I used Distress Oxides in the colors Mustard Seed, Dried Marigold, Kitsch Flamingo, and Picked Raspberry.

When all of my ink blending was dry, I stamped the sentiment “Sanding you a sunny smile” from the Kitten Beach Stamp Set onto the middle panel. To finish it off, I popped up my kittens on foam tape and adhered them to the two outer squares.¬†

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

Fly a Kite – Inky Paws 151

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

There is still time to join the summer-themed Inky Paws Challenge! Create a summer inspired project using products from Newton’s Nook Designs and link a photo up to the Inky Paws Challenge Blog by the end of the day Friday for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook online store!

For my second card, I decided to use the Delightful Doxies stamp set. I love the images in this set and I thought the kite image in the set would be the perfect way to add a little summer to my card.

To start, I stamped a couple of the dachshund images, two kites, and a few butterflies onto a piece of Hammermill white 110# paper. To color my image I used Copic markers in the colors:

Dachshunds: E18, E17, E15, E13, and E11

Kites: R22, R20, YR12, YR21, Y13, and Y11

Butterflies: YR16, YR14, YR12, 100, W8, and W6

After coloring my images, I cut them out using the coordinating dies.

To create my background, I cut a piece of white paper down to 3.5 x 8.5 inches. On that panel, I temporarily adhered the squares stencil from the Slimline Masking Circles and Squares Stencil Set. I ink blended over the stencil using Gina K inks in the colors Wild Dandelion, Sweet Mango, Dusty Rose, and Lovely Lavender. When I was done with my ink blending, I removed my stencil and started to add the finishing touches to my card.

I adhered the dachshund images on the top and bottom squares, leaving a space in the middle square to add my sentiment. After adhering the images, I stamped the sentiment “you lift me up” with black ink. To finish my card, I used my Nuvo Glitter Pen to add a little bit of sparkle to the kites.
