Beach Day Scene – IPC 177 Reminder

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today, I am sharing my second card for the current Inky Paws Sketch challenge! You have until the end of the day Friday to link up a project using the sketch as inspiration for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

My card today is a little more interpretive, just to show that you don’t have to follow a sketch exactly.

To start my card, I stamped the image of the girl relaxing in a beach chair from the Summer Moments Stamp Set in the lower left corner of a 4.25in x 5.5in card front. Next, I used the Sunscape Stencil and Distress Oxides in Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade, and ink blended some rays around the stamped image to mimic the sketch.

After my stenciling, I colored my image using Copic markers in the following colors:

Beach Chair: R59, R29, R08, R05, YR09, YR07, YR04, YR12, Y38, Y35, Y13, Y11, YG45, YG23, YG11, YG01, BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11, V09, V06, V04, V01, C3, and C1

Sun Hat: E49, E44, E42, E41

Pants: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Skin tone: E15, E13, E11, E51

To finish my card, I stamped the sentiment “Girls just want to have sun!” from the Summer Moments Stamps Set in the upper right side of my card front.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Scenes – Inky Paws 152

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

We are kicking off a brand new Inky Paws Challenge today, and it is a fun one! This time, we have a color challenge featuring the colors RED, PINK, YELLOW, and WHITE. I had so much fun coming up with cards for this challenge and I think you will, too!

For my first card, I decided to make a one layer scene card. I hadn’t done one in a while, but when I saw the new Summer Moments Stamp Set, I knew I just had to put those cute little ladies on a beach!

To start my card, I cut a piece of Hammermill 110lb white cardstock down to be 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Then, I took out the stamps I wanted to use and played around with where I wanted to place them. I decided I wanted the polka dot beach bag slightly behind the girl sitting in the beach chair, so I stamped the bag first and then masked it before stamping the chair. I also stamped the girl reading to add more to my scene.

Next, I moved on to the beach scene. Before I began coloring, I decided where I wanted the sand line to be, as well as where the ocean meets the sky. For the sand, I lightly penciled a sort of squiggly line right about midway up my card. For the water, I used a ruler and lightly penciled a line a little bit above the sand line. Since I was using Copics, it was important that my pencil line was super light. Once you color Copic over pencil, you cannot erase the pencil – trust me, I’ve learned this the hard way!

After planning where everything would be, I began coloring. For the sand, I created the edge and the raised areas using E50, E30, E42, and E43. To add a little bit of depth to the sand, I took E42, E43, E44, and E55 and dotted them on the edge and raised areas.

For my water, I colored the entire area using BG0000. Then, starting from the “back” of the water, I flicked B26, B24, B21, and B00 coming down until I reached the front of the water (where it meets the sand).

For my sky, I started in the center with my darkest yellow, Y17, working my way out with Y15, Y13, and Y00 to create a half circle shape. Then, I filled in the rest of my sky with BG32, B00, and BG0000.

The other Copic combos I used on my card were:

Reds: R29, R08, R05, and R14

Pinks: RV29, RV25, RV23, and RV21

White: W5, W3, W2, and W00

To finish my card, I stamped the sentiment “wishing you oceans of happiness” in the middle of the sun, and added some glitter to the water using my Nuvo Shimmer Pen.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Newton’s Nook Online Store! And be sure to check out the adorable summer release, which includes the fun set I used today!
