Beach Day Scene – IPC 177 Reminder

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today, I am sharing my second card for the current Inky Paws Sketch challenge! You have until the end of the day Friday to link up a project using the sketch as inspiration for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

My card today is a little more interpretive, just to show that you don’t have to follow a sketch exactly.

To start my card, I stamped the image of the girl relaxing in a beach chair from the Summer Moments Stamp Set in the lower left corner of a 4.25in x 5.5in card front. Next, I used the Sunscape Stencil and Distress Oxides in Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade, and ink blended some rays around the stamped image to mimic the sketch.

After my stenciling, I colored my image using Copic markers in the following colors:

Beach Chair: R59, R29, R08, R05, YR09, YR07, YR04, YR12, Y38, Y35, Y13, Y11, YG45, YG23, YG11, YG01, BG49, BG45, BG32, BG11, V09, V06, V04, V01, C3, and C1

Sun Hat: E49, E44, E42, E41

Pants: 100, W8, W6, W5, W3

Skin tone: E15, E13, E11, E51

To finish my card, I stamped the sentiment “Girls just want to have sun!” from the Summer Moments Stamps Set in the upper right side of my card front.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge!

Springtime Smiles Sketch Challenge – IPC 171

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today I am sharing a second card for the current Inky Paws Sketch Challenge!

For my card, I used the following products:

Newton’s Blooms Stamps and Dies

Spring Pile Up Stamp Set

Circle Frames Die Set

Land Borders Die Set

Sunscape Stencil

Love and Meows Paper Pad

To start my card, I colored the Newton’s Blooms Stamp using my Copic markers, then cut it out with the coordinating die set. To create a springtime scene, I inked a 3.5in x 4.75in white panel with the Sunscape Stencil and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide. Then, I cut a strip of white card stock using the grass from the Land Borders Die Set and inked it using Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide. For my sentiment, I cut out a white circle using a stitched circle from the Circle Frames Die Set and stamped the sentiment “sending piles of springtime smiles” using a black ink. To finish off my card, I created a card front using polka dot paper from the Love and Meows Paper Pad.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store!

A Fin-tastic New Challenge! – Inky Paws 156

Cards

Hello and welcome back!

Today is the start of a brand new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton’s Nook Blog! This time, we have a clean and simple sketch challenge that is sure to inspire you to get inky!

I recently got my hands on the adorable Shark Bites Stamp Set, and when I saw this sketch, I thought it was perfect to combine the two. I started by stamping the image of the shark jumping out of the water onto a piece of white Hammermill card stock. I colored the image using my Copic markers in the following colors:

Shark: W8, W6, W5, W3, W2

Water: B00, B21, B24, B28

After coloring, I cut my image using the coordinating dies. Next, I took another piece of white card stock and cut three panels using one of the dies from the Sky Borders Die Set. On each of the pieces, I ink blended Distress Oxides in Salvaged Patina, Mermaid Lagoon, and Salty Ocean. On another piece of white card stock, I used the Sunscape Stencil and ink blended over the stencil using Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide. Leaving the stencil on the paper, I splattered some yellow glitter ink from Brea Reese to add a little sparkle to the background.

I decided I wanted to create an interactive element to my card, so I used a small oblong die to create a slit in the background panel. Behind the opening, I put a strip of yellow card stock to create a pull tab. I attached the shark to the pull tab with a pop dot, putting the background panel between the pieces so the tab was behind the background and the shark was in the front.

To assemble the rest of my card, I stamped the sentiment “hope your day doesn’t bite!” onto the Salvaged Patina ink blended panel. I glued the three water pieces together, going from lightest to darkest. Then, I popped up the waves with foam tape and attached them to the back panel, leaving space for my shark to move around.

I hope you join us in the Inky Paws Challenge for a chance to win a $20 gift voucher to the Newton’s Nook Online Store
